About the Tour
Day 1 - Schaumburg, Illinois (Wednesday, Mar. 25, 2020)
Today we will arrive from all around the world! Whether you come from Scotland or Japan, Norway or South Africa, wargamers will converge on the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in anticipation of the awesomeness that is AdeptiCon!
Don’t know how to get to Schaumburg from O’Hare? Don’t worry – we have you covered with Private Transfers all the way to the Hotel. When we arrive our Geek Nation Tours Representative will show you around the hotel and make sure you know where all the AdeptiCon events will take place. Need to know where to go to get a game in? We will be there to help get you going in the right direction hassle and stress free.
If you need to pick up some libations Geek Nation Tours has you covered there too… A few weeks prior to our arrival we will order from Sal’s Beverage World online. You will be able to get any libations you wish along with flats of water (recommended) and snacks.
Today is the day to pick up your elite swag bag, event passes, weekend badge and all the goodies you get with your Very Important Gamer Upgrade. That is where we come in… Geek Nation Tours will hop in line for you and hand deliver them straight to you at our Welcome Dinner. Not only that – we will throw in some cool things from GNT, @DMG Miniature Factory and Ironheart Artisans.
The Welcome Dinner itself will take place at the Renaissance so there is no reason to search for a local restaurant.
Geek Nation Tours has a long list of awesome visitors that have joined us at our Welcome Dinners as Guests of Honor. This year we are very excited to add Hyacinth Games and their awesome post apocalyptic wargame – Wreck Age.
“The Resurgence is upon us. Wreck Age is a post-collapse tabletop skirmish game set in a world after total societal and economic collapse. Centuries ago, the planet was left a war-and-pollution ravaged husk, the powerful fled earth to colonize distant stars, leaving those behind to fight over what remained. In Wreck Age, your characters vie for power and struggle to survive on 26th century earth. Wreck Age features a plethora of combat and non-combat game mechanics, including building your own communities, customizing your factions, and a robust campaign system, allowing you to take game-play in any direction you want.”
We will continue our annual two-part Hobby Challenge for all tour participants. In order for you to rise to the challenge of our Post-Fall Welcome Dinner the crew at Hyacinth Games will give us the means to get our miniatures transport free, and as such will be giving all orders from Geek Nation Tours participants free shipping!!! So strap on your breather, guard your gas tank and start painting your gang… You will receive a code as soon as you book and thus you will have plenty of time to get a posse all painted up… We want to see work in progress postings of your crew all through the year, so book soon.
Oh, and expect prizes from the Wreck Age crew too! All participants will be receiving the Wreck Age 2020 AdeptiCon exclusive miniature when you arrive!

Day 2 - Schaumburg, Illinois (Thursday, Mar. 26, 2020)
AdeptiCon is hopping straight into the 40K Championship but Geek Nation Tours has plenty to do for those of you not rolling dice or jumping into seminars.
Geek Nation Tours continues its annual tradition of offering a truly epic elite tabletop wargamers experience for this day. Today we will meet between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm for an Exclusive Master Class Painting Seminar. Every year Geek Nation Tours offers our tour participants a GNT only AdeptiCon Miniature crafted by @DMG Miniature Factory and in 2020 we will see a paring of fantasy miniatures perfect for this year’s seminar… We have again, lured James Wappel out of AdeptiCon teaching retirement to give GNT participants a seminar to remember. Build your skills as one of the greatest miniatures artists on the planet shares his thoughts on miniature basing. James is well known across the industry for some of the most amazing bases going. Check out some of his work but know that you will not only be able to base the 2020 GNT miniature, but some of your own… So bring some miniatures yet to have their bases done and you will leave with a few brought to life before your eyes…
James is going to take the long trek away from Fort Wappel (AdeptiCon’s Hobby Seminar Lounge – where pro-painters who have journeyed to from all around the world gather to visit and paint) to teach the class this year and for the foreseeable future. This will allow repeat tour participants the ability to develop their skills each year. It is GNT’s goal that tour participants create better miniatures and that everyone goes back home with few extra tools in his or her painting arsenal.
As an added bonus James will be hand delivering his famous Pyramid Painting Classes for any that wish to pre-order and upgrade this already awesome class! Join in and get a flash drive of knowledge directly from the master himself.
But that is not all! Geek Nation Tours will treat you tonight as we will have an off property adventure that we like to call “Escape from AdeptiCon and Meet the Podcasters Night”. Enjoy the Caribbean atmosphere at the Bahama Breeze and mingle with your favorite podcasters and tour participants alike. Float from table to table and enjoy an entree ordered right off the menu.
Geek Nation Tours has invited loads of podcast crews to this event and several have accepted already. In years past we had The D6 Generation, Jaded Gamers, Independent Characters, Masters of the Forge, The Nerdherders, Out of the Basement, The Overlords, The Screaming Heretics, 40K Radio, Anonymous Tabletop, After Ullanor (also Garagehammer and The Imperial Truth) Hero Man and Sidekick Boy, and Teri – That Gamer Girl. Indeed, most years we have nearly the same amount of podcasters as tour participants!!! Many of these you can listen to via iTunes or directly on the Freebooter’s Network. This year we hope to outdo even that list…

Day 3 - Schaumburg, Illinois (Friday, Mar. 27, 2020)
Today is your day to Game and Seminar to your heart’s content. Enjoy AdeptiCon on your own schedule, but always know that our Geek Nation Tours representative will be there if you need anything at all. You will be able to find him in the trenches with you rolling dice and moving miniatures – so beware!
Tonight, we have another meal planned and past participants agree that our meet-ups are an important part of the convention experience – a time where you can get to know other Geeks from around the world and maybe hear a great suggestion or two on what to do the following days, exchange “war stories” and have loads of fun. You can join us every night or you can do your own thing. Geek Nation Tours wants you to have the most freedom to “Geek Out” as possible, so our meetings will be completely optional and you can come and go as you please.
With that said, tonight is going to be huge! We will present our 6th annual “Geek Nation Tours Wargaming Industry Leaders Dinner”. Tonight gaming companies from around the world will join us for dinner, and as we eat we will be regaled with stories from our Industry leaders as well as talks about who they are, what they offer, and what they are planning for the future. Who knows, we might even get some “New Release” information…!
Our second part of this year’s Hobby Challenge will come after dinner. Each company will offer a unique gaming event. You’ll want to bring your miniatures you painted for our Welcome Dinner and be prepared to lock horns one more time. These short events will allow tour participants to hop from one company to the other, see the mechanics of each system, and earn special deals. As a matter of fact, each company will be awarding victory tokens to those that show the best sportsmanship, cool cinematic moves, bad dice rolling or for just having the most fun. Those that earn the most victories will be awarded some cool prizes from Dicehead Games. There will also be plenty of time to hang out with designers or company leaders to socialize and if you are lucky you can get them to talk about the “old days” of miniature wargaming.
Ronnie Renton and the crew of Mantic Games will take us on a journey inspired by the legendary tales of horror, myth and folklore via Hellboy the Board Game which creates a cooperative gaming experience that sees you become a member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD), ready to investigate occult threats. You will become one of the iconic members of the Hellboy universe and choose from Abe Sapien, Liz Sherman, Johann Kraus or Hellboy himself to explore gothic locations, hunt down clues, discover artefacts, fight horrific creatures and maybe even deny hell on Earth…
Not only that… We will be sending you each a Hellboy mini to have ready for the event…
This year, Anvil 8 Games (Aetherium, Aetherium RPG and Front Line No Komrades) will have a new expansion of their Frontline No Komrades game ready for us to play. To add to the fun, prior to even arriving, tour participants will receive a free new con exclusive character not available elsewhere … Don’t get too attached to the character you receive however, as you might soon find him or her in the line of fire… The crew will of course also bring both their Aetherium and Aetherium the Roleplaying games for us to demo…
GNT is excited that the crew from Crucible Crush Games will be joining us again in 2020. They will spotlight their Flint & Feather game but possibly also their newest endeavour their Black Sun game as well… Regardless, we will all get a chance to paint up one of their miniatures to bring for some action this evening.
In years past we have had, Cool Mini or Not, Mantic Games, Gale Force Nine, Osprey Games ,Warlord Games, Red Republic Games (Arena Rex) and Games Workshop onboard and this year we hope our list of special guest will be even more impressive. We really want this to be a super fun time so there will be a cash bar and loads of positive energy throughout the evening. So join us for this exclusive wargaming experience!
GNT is happy to include Slow Death Games in 2020’s Industry Leader’s Night… They will be bringing their Wild in the Streets game which has quite possibly the most humorous write up in the industry… It is so good we thought we would include it in full…
“So what is Wild in the Streets? It’s a fast paced miniature skirmish game where gangs of youth subcultures clash in quick and brutal street fights. What does that mean? You get to take a gang of goths and go have beef with those crust punk dickheads that are illegally drinking outside the club. Or maybe your working class skinhead gang has just been jumped by the devilish murder cult girls and need to use all your skills to not end up crushed under their high heels and hate. You can even throw all of the gangs on the board and have an all-encompassing melee punctuated by windmills, circle pits and goth dance offs. Wild in the Streets uses small gangs, a card driven initiative and event system and minimal setup and record keeping to throw you straight into the action. What this means is each individual figure (or group of figures) has a card that activates it. These are shuffled together and drawn, so you’re never quite sure who is going next and what kind of beating is getting laid down. Special cards, which is where a lot of the flavor of the game comes in, are also pulled out of this deck so can influence the game a little randomly. This creates an unpredictable and light game that moves quickly. This will never be a serious tourney game, or something you spend hours planning lists for, but there are enough of those games out there already. Seriously, if you don’t want to play a game where some crust punk lady is about to smash your face, but a free beer card comes up and stops her death blow as she chugs away…then you can probably *@#^ right off. The game is quick, can be hilarious and makes for great multiplayer.”

Day 4 - Schaumburg, Illinois (Saturday, Mar. 28, 2020)
Yet another day to live the experience of AdeptiCon and game and seminar to your heart’s content. Your schedule is your own, but be sure to join us for another elite gaming experience in the evening.
We will be off to Pac Man Entertainment where they feature loads of gaming opportunities that include retro style bowling, a classic/modern mixed video game lounge including pinball, basketball, virtual skiing, shuffleboard and over a 100 more games!! They offer American fare and promote adults “letting their hair down” and truly enjoying themselves. Think a modern bowling experience mixed with concrete and wood and a rich wall coloring combined with plush and leather fabric which is used throughout the space to create a chic urban hot spot.
We will get right to bowling this night and have a night of appetizers, socialize and knock down pins with cool special guests… Not to mention more prizes and tonnes of fun.

Day 5 - Schaumburg, Illinois (Sunday, Mar. 29, 2020)
One more day to game and seminar, but also to take in the Awards Ceremony and see who wins this year’s charity auction army. It is your last day to experience all the goodness that is AdeptiCon so make sure you take it all in!
Right after the closing ceremony Geek Nation Tours will start to wind things down with its “Farewell Dinner”. We will have dinner right in the hotel again, but we will order in for a Classic Chicago style dinner at Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria. Geek Nation Tours knows that gamers love their food and we will ban together as a group to choose our pizzas prior to arrival. This will allow more meal choice and a good chance of getting even better pies! Our mouths are watering even now…
Tonight we will chill out a bit and just enjoy our final night together, visiting over dinner. After our pizza feed we will take the time to bring a favorite boardgame (or perhaps a recent purchase) and teach our fellow gamers something you love. Whether you hop into boardgaming or just hang out watching – Sunday night is always an awesome night to relax with some less competitive gaming. As a matter of fact, many many laughs are always heard from our tour members this evening. We cannot stress enough how fun this last night is.
