Teras I. Cassidy – Geek Nation Tours
Geek Nation Tours is very excited to present our tour to the world’s largest tabletop wargaming tournament and convention – AdeptiCon. Here discriminating wargamers from around the world find a multitude of gaming experiences – from tournaments using a variety of different wargaming systems to the very best in gaming and painting seminars. AdeptiCon is also a wargamers’ shopping paradise with a huge amount of vendors waiting to show you their wares. It is a spectacle to be seen and experienced. Game with the best, meet friends from around the world, and roll dice all night long!
AdeptiCon 2016 is sure to be the best tabletop experience ever. Last year we were introduced to a new venue with more options and the ability to offer tabletop gamers an unprecedented experience! Reviews of the venue were overwhelmingly positive and GNT participants loved it. Geek Nation Tours and AdeptiCon will bring you nothing short of an elite wargamers’ experience in 2016.
In the past Geek Nation Tours brought tour participants Pre-public guaranteed AdeptiCon registration. We offered those that hop on the tour the opportunity to select AdeptiCon events before the general public and thus insure that tour participants get to grab all the events that they are hoping for. This year is no exception – book prior to October 30th 2015 and you will be able to pre-register for all events in advance of them going public. Don’t come half way across the world only to have the spots you wanted disappear…
2016 will see Geek Nation Tours again include both the Very Important Gamer and Regular AdeptiCon Weekend Pass in the tour price. The package includes Preferred Check-in, an AdeptiCon T-shirt, and an AdeptiCon glass – but most importantly you will get advanced early entry to the Vendor’s Hall. That’s right! If you want your resin you will be able to get it. Don’t have access to all the cool gaming vendors at home? Come join us!
Not only that – Geek Nation Tours makes your VIG package even better! We love making it easier for our tour participants! We will pick up your tickets, weekend passes and your swag bags for you. Absolutely no waiting in line – just show up at the Welcome Dinner and “bang”you will receive your loot hassle free (with a few extras from Geek Nation Tours and Ironheart Artisans).
Geek Nation Tours has of course, hotel rooms right at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel! So all you have to do is roll out of bed and into the goodness that is AdeptiCon. But thats not all! The Renaissance has also given us free wifi in our rooms for the duration of our stay…
Each year Geek Nation Tours offers an “AdeptiCon Welcome Dinner” where we have had tonnes of Guest Speakers from all aspects of the Wargaming Universe. From Black Library authors Dan Abnett, Chris Wraight, C.L. Werner and Andy Smillie to Game Designers like Andy Chambers. GNT also invites Wargame Industry leaders like Privateer Press, Mantic Games and Cool Mini or Not, to Pro Painters Victoria Lamb, Chris Borer, Dave Taylor, Meg Maples, Brandon Palmer, and Sculptor Patrick Keith from Bombshell Miniatures. Of course our Podcasting friends also come join us for some fun and allow fans to visit with the crews from 40K Radio, Independent Characters, The Overlords, Bad Dice, Ohiohammer and the Screaming Heretics to name only a few. This year we will expand the ability to let you meet awesome people in the wargaming industry to every single night we are at AdeptiCon! We will have our Welcome Dinner of course, but because they were so successful (and tonnes of fun) we will again offer our “Meet the Podcasters” RAM night out, then our “Geek Nation Tours Wargaming Industry Leaders” Night and our “Pro Hobbyist One on One Night. We will round this up with our Farewell Dinner, AdeptiCon Poker Mixer and Boardgaming Night with the D6Generation and other guest speakers! Each night will have a multitude of Wargaming Guest Speakers, tonnes of gaming and loads of fun!
Day 1 (Wednesday – March 30th):
Today we will arrive from all around the world! Whether you come from Scotland or Japan, Norway or South Africa, wargamers will converge on the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in anticipation of the awesomeness that is AdeptiCon!
Don’t know how to get to Schaumburg from O’Hare? Don’t worry – we have you covered with Private Transfers all the way to the Hotel. When we arrive our Geek Nation Tours Representative will show you around the hotel and make sure you know where all the AdeptiCon events will take place. Need to know where to go to get a game in? We will be there to help get you going in the right direction hassle and stress free.
If you need to pick up some libations Geek Nation Tours has you covered there too… A few months prior to our arrival we will order from Sal’s Beverage World online. You will be able to get any libations you wish along with flats of water (recommended) and snacks delivered straight to your room.
Today is the day to pick up your elite swag bag, event passes, weekend badge and all the goodies you get with your Very Important Gamer registration. That is where we come in… Geek Nation Tours will hop in line for you and hand deliver them straight to you at our Welcome Dinner. Not only that we will throw in some cool things from GNT and Ironheart Artisans.
The Welcome Dinner itself will take place at the Renaissance so there is no reason to search for a local restaurant. Tonight we have a long list of Special Guest Speakers lined up… Some that will help you paint better and others that might transport you to another universe. Last year we offered a Warhammer 40,000 Roleplaying experience like no other… And this year we will return to that tradition! Every single Tour participant will take the part of a Space Marine! Each table will be a squad working together with the other squads in the room to overcome the odds and save the Emperor’s subjects from certain death. This linked scenario will give everyone something to talk about for the coming days!
GNT has lined up some pretty awesome Game Masters for this event and returning to help us out will be The Nerdherders crew! Sure to be fun for everyone!
Day 2 (Thursday – March 31st):
AdeptiCon is hopping straight into the 40K Championship but Geek Nation Tours has plenty to do for those of you not rolling dice or jumping into seminars. We will be hunting down open tables and rolling dice. For those interested we will have a mini tourniment and some friendly games. Want to have a game with someone outside your gaming group? GNT will give you the chance today!
Today GNT will offer an additional optional excursion to K1 Speed Go-Karts! We will head out via taxi to have some awesome Go-Kart fun. We will be broken into teams as we try to outrace each other, and we can lunch right at the venue while we watch others zip around the track at 45 mph! We have travelled to similar areas in the past and this excursion has always been a highlight of the tour! The day will cost $60.00 plus taxi and lunch. All costs will be paid directly to the venue (and taxies of course) the day of. Expect to be a bit worn down when you get back to the convention center – we will be racing for 2 1/2 hours.
Let Geek Nation Tours treat you tonight as we will have an off property adventure that we like to call “Escape from AdeptiCon and Meet the Podcasters Night”. Enjoy the bar atmosphere at the RAM and mingle with your favorite podcasters and tour participants alike. Float from table to table and enjoy a entree ordered right off the menu.
Geek Nation Tours has invited loads of podcast crews to this event and several have accepted already. Last year we had The D6 Generation, Jaded Gamers, Independent Characters, Masters of the Forge, The Nerdherders, Out of the Basement, The Overlords, The Screaming Heretics, and Teri – That Gamer Girl. This year we hope to out do even that list…
Day 3 (Friday – April 1st):
Today is your day to Game and Seminar to your heart’s content. Enjoy AdeptiCon on your own schedule but always know that our Geek Nation Tours representative will be there if you need anything at all. You will be able to find him in the trenches with you rolling dice and moving miniatures – so beware!
Tonight we have another meal planned for you and past participants agree that our meet-ups are an important part of the convention experience – a time where you can get to know other Geeks from around the world and maybe hear a great suggestion or two on what to do the following days, exchange “war stories” and have loads of fun. You can join us every night or you can do your own thing. Geek Nation Tours wants you to have the most freedom to “Geek Out” as possible so our meetings will be completely optional and you can come and go as you please.
With that said tonight is going to be huge! We will present our second “Geek Nation Tours Wargaming Industry Leaders Dinner”. Tonight gaming companies from around the world will join us for dinner… Each company will give a quick talk about what they offer, and what they are planning for the future. Who knows, we might even get some “New Release” information…(last year tour participants were blessed to have a tonne of extra goodies from these companies)! After dinner each company will offer Demos of their games. Hop from one to the other, see the mechanics of each system, and earn special deals. But that is not all! Later in the evening we will have open gaming for each of their systems so you can give them a real play. There will be loads of gaming opportunities so everyone will be included! We really want this to be a super fun time so there will be a cash bar and loads of positive energy throughout the evening. So join us for this exclusive gaming experience!
Day 4 (Saturday – April 2nd):
Yet another day to live the experience of AdeptiCon and game and seminar to your heart’s content. Your schedule is your own but be sure to join us for another elite gaming experience in the evening.
Geek Nation Tours has created a truly epic and elite tabletop wargamers experience for this evening. Tonight we presents our “Pro-Hobbyists One-on-One Evening” as Patrick Keith, Brandon Palmer, Meg Maples and Dave Taylor join us for dinner. We have arranged One-on-One time with them to help each of our tour participant create better miniatures. They will offer tricks of the trade or maybe even help you with a specific project you have in mind. Everyone is sure to come back with another tool in his or her painting arsenal. No need to bring a miniature with you. Just take photos of the one you want help with (ANY miniature in your collection – with multiple angles) and they will help you with your project. Meg and Dave can help you with fine detail painting, Brandon with how to get massive amounts of miniatures painted quickly and Pat with how to convert and use green stuff effectively. Something for everyone and words of advice straight from a Pro to your ears.
Oh and we have a new additon to our Pro-Hobbyist list this year… Mark Soley – the master of bases and Slayer Sword winner will be on hand to give us hints on basing…
Also tonight we will head off to dinner for a specal Medieval Times experiance! Jousting, sword fighting and turkey legs… How can you not love that? So be ready to cheer on your favorite knight!
Day 5 (Sunday – April 3rd):
One more day to game and seminar but also to take in the Awards Ceremony and see who wins this year’s charity auction army. It is your last day to experience all the goodness that is AdeptiCon so make sure you take it all in!
Right after the closing ceremony Geek Nation Tours will start to wind things down with its “Farewell Dinner”. We will be headed out for a Classic Chicago style dinner at Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria. Geek Nation Tours knows that gamers love their food and we will ban together as a group to choose our pizzas prior to arrival. This will allow more meal choice and a good chance of getting even better pies! Our mouths are watering even now…
But what would be a Geek Nation Tours meal be without more guest speakers? In past years Geek Nation Tours has had Black Library authors Dan Abnett, Chris Wraight, C.L. Werner and Andy Smillie and Andy Chambers (instrumental in creating Warhammer 40,000) several others join us for a meal. We hope that this will be yet another year of Black Library goodness. We are still making plans for this evening’s guests but as they are solidified we will let you know who is coming!
But really an AdeptiCon experience needs to be wrapped up with gaming – so we will be heading back to the hotel and hopping into the annual “AdeptiCon Poker Tournament and Mixer” or the “D6 Generation’s Sunday Boardgaming Night”.
Whether it is poker, boardgaming or just hanging out watching – Sunday night is always an awesome night to relax with some less competitive gaming. As a matter of fact, many many laughs are always heard from our tour members this evening. We cannot stress enough how fun this last night is.
